What did God do for Joseph after he was sold into Egypt?

God remained with Joseph after he was sold into Egypt. He delivered Joseph out of all his afflictions, gave him favor and wisdom in Pharaoh’s sight, and made him governor over Egypt and all Pharaoh’s house. Scripture presents this as God’s direct intervention on Joseph’s behalf.

Les explains that Stephen is recounting Israel’s history in Acts 7 to show that the one they killed was their Messiah. In verses 9–10, Stephen says the patriarchs were moved with envy and sold Joseph into Egypt, but God was with him. God delivered Joseph out of all his afflictions, gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and made him governor over Egypt and all his house. Les also notes this pattern has happened often in human history: a Jew who is foreign in a Gentile land can become one of the top men in government, with Daniel as another well-known example.
