What did God do for Joseph after he was sold into Egypt according to Acts 7?
According to Acts 7, God was with Joseph after his brothers sold him into Egypt. God delivered him from all his afflictions, gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and made him governor over Egypt and over Pharaoh's entire house.
Les explains that Acts chapter 7 is Stephen's sermon. Stephen was one of the six deacons appointed in Acts 6, a man full of the Holy Spirit, and he appeals to Israel to convince them that the one they killed was their Messiah, going through their history. In verse 9, Stephen says the patriarchs moved with envy—the ten brothers, since Benjamin was at home—and sold Joseph into Egypt, but God was with him. God delivered him out of all his afflictions, gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and made him governor over Egypt and all his house. Les notes this has happened often in human history, where a Jew who is foreign in a Gentile land becomes one of the top men in government, as with Daniel.
And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
