Does the Bible ever again describe Jacob as a deceiver or conniver after he becomes a child of God?

No. After Jacob becomes a child of God, Scripture never again records him as a deceiver or conniver. Though he had cheated Laban and Esau earlier, he is now a changed man. God marks this transformation by changing his name from Jacob, the supplanter and deceiver, to Israel, prince with God.

Les teaches that once Jacob becomes a child of God, Scripture never again gives an account of Jacob the deceiver, nor will you find him conniving to cheat someone. He did deceive Laban and Esau before, but now he is a changed man; that is why God changes his name from Jacob to Israel—from the supplanter and deceiver to the prince with God. Les then connects this to Isaiah 9:8, where Jehovah sent a word into Jacob and it lighted upon Israel. The Word went into the whole nation (Jacob), but the believers, the spiritual part, heard it. Although Jacob and Israel are often used synonymously, they are not synonymous: they are two aspects of the same nation. So after his new birth, Jacob is no longer described as a deceiver or conniver.
