Through whom was the promised seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15 supposed to come?

The promised seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15 was to come through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Judah, then David and Solomon, and eventually through Joseph and Mary. That lineage runs from the Abrahamic covenant through Judah, David, and Solomon to Joseph and Mary.

Les explains that with the beginning of the Abrahamic covenant, the promise goes all the way back to Genesis 3:15, the promise of the seed of the woman. That seed would come through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and then out of Jacob's twelve sons, the son of Judah. Out of Judah comes David and Solomon, and then Solomon and the other branch of the tree bring us all the way up to Joseph and Mary. Les notes that is as far as it goes in the Old Testament. He also notes that Israel rejected and crucified Him, and in the early chapters of Acts God continued to deal with the Jew until the Body of Christ, the Church, is introduced, which is Pauline terminology.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
