Did Old Testament prophecy come from human will or from the Holy Spirit?
Old Testament prophecy did not come by human will. Scripture teaches that holy men of God spoke and wrote as they were moved along by the Holy Spirit. Peter makes this clear, and Daniel himself heard words he did not understand, showing the message originated from God's Spirit rather than human initiative.
Les explains that all Scripture is inspired of God, and Peter states that Old Testament prophecy did not come by the will of man. It is not legend passed down around a campfire; rather, holy men of God wrote as they were moved along by the Spirit. Daniel illustrates this: he wrote end-time prophecy long before it happened, yet he heard words he did not understand, proving the source was the Spirit of God, not human understanding or will.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
