Was every word of the Bible inspired by the Holy Spirit, or did the writers' own personalities come through?
The Bible is fully inspired: every word is Holy Spirit breathed, yet the human writers' personalities and personal feelings were also evident as they wrote. So divine inspiration and human personality operate together, not as opposites, in the production of Scripture.
Les explains that he is not taking away any of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and he feels every word in this Book is Holy Spirit breathed. But he also notes that as men wrote, their personality and personal feelings were evident. He illustrates this with Paul, who was bursting to tell what he saw and heard in II Corinthians 12 but forbore, lest any man should think of him above what he saw. So inspiration and human personality operate together.
