Can you find the gospel in the Gospels?

No, the Gospel cannot be found in the Gospels, because Christ had not yet died, shed His blood, or risen from the dead. The Gospels record His earthly ministry under the law, while the Gospel comes through Paul's revelation from the ascended Lord.

Les teaches that Paul did not receive his message from man, nor was he taught it by the Twelve, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ (s89–s93). Everything Paul teaches and writes came directly from the Ascended Lord in glory (s94–s96). People often object that we must go by what Jesus said in the Gospels (s97–s102), but Les explains that everything Paul writes is what Jesus said after His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension (s104–s106). He illustrates this with a will: if you made a will five years ago and then made a new one before dying, the last one is valid because it is what you spoke last (s107–s114). In the same way, Paul's revelations are from the Ascended Lord, whereas the Gospels describe Christ in His earthly ministry, living under the law and ministering to a people under the law (s115–s125). Les grants that we can study the Gospels for moral application and to learn of Christ's compassion (s126–s131), but he insists you will not find the Gospel back there, because He had not yet died, shed His blood, or risen from the dead (s132–s135).
