How did Les describe the promise that believers will be confirmed blameless?
God will confirm believers unto the end, that they may be blameless. This promise was described as mind-boggling because the Corinthians, with all their failures and weaknesses, would still stand before Him blameless if the Lord came. The basis was not their own merit but grace.
Les teaches that I Corinthians, verse 8, promises, “who also shall confirm you unto the end, that you may be blameless.” He calls that promise mind-boggling because the Corinthians were not blameless; they had many failures and weaknesses. If the Lord had come a day or two after they received Paul’s letter, they would not have stood before God shaking in their boots because of those failures. Paul says that if the Lord should come, they would stand before Him blameless. Les asks on what basis God could do that and answers, “It’s grace.” He also ties this to the testimony of Christ being confirmed, sealed, and settled in them, so they came behind in no gift, waiting for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
