Why can Bible believers take comfort about the future of their own nation?

Bible believers can take comfort because the account of Abraham’s plea for Sodom shows God would spare a city for even ten believers. Likewise, a nation may survive as long as it has a relatively strong Christian community, continues sending the gospel to the ends of the earth, and remains a friend of God’s covenant people.

Les explains that Abraham pleaded with the Lord over Sodom because Lot, his beloved nephew, and his offspring were living there. Abraham asked whether God would spare the city for fifty righteous, then forty, thirty, and all the way down to ten, and the Lord agreed to spare Sodom if even ten believers were there—but there were not. From this, Les teaches that Bible believers can take comfort about the future of their own beloved land. As long as a relatively strong Christian community remains, continues sending the gospel to the ends of the earth, and the nation stays a friend of God’s covenant people, he suggests they stand a pretty good chance of surviving.
