What does the Bible promise to true believers?

Scripture promises true believers that God imputes His righteousness to them, covering them with salvation because they believe Christ accomplished everything on their behalf. He moves in and gives them power to live and walk pleasing in His sight, forgives and cleanses them when they stumble, and makes them noticeably different by His power.

Les explains that this great covering of the garments of salvation is imputed, a bookkeeping term meaning to put to the account. God's righteousness is imputed to us and covers us because we have believed what He has done on our behalf. When we truly and honestly believe that Christ accomplished everything needed, He moves right in and gives us the power to live a life pleasing in His sight. We will fall and trip, but God is like a patient young mother who never gives up; He picks us up, says we are forgiven and cleansed, and tells us to move on. Les contrasts this with a flash in the pan, walking an aisle, joining a church, or fulfilling a ritualistic demand. For the true believer, this book promises that God moves in and gives all the power needed to live and walk pleasing in His sight, and people around us will notice that we are different, all by the power of God.
