Les Feldick Bible Study

What did Les say about the geography around Sodom and the Jordan Valley?

The Jordan Valley at the lower end of the Dead Sea was well watered and tremendous for cattle and livestock. By contrast, the central part of Israel was mountainous. The geography also includes the Mediterranean coast, Sea of Galilee, Jordan River, and Dead Sea, though not drawn to scale.

Les explains that when the men rose up and looked toward Sodom, he wanted to put a little bit of geography on the map again. He points out the Mediterranean Sea coast, the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan River, and the Dead Sea, always reminding that this is never according to scale but it helps a little bit. Down in the Jordan Valley at the lower end of the Dead Sea, it was well watered, just a tremendous place for cattle and livestock, whereas up in the center part of Israel were the mountains.

Genesis 18:16

And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
