Les Feldick Bible Study

How does Les use Israel's situation at the Red Sea to describe the human condition?

Israel's Red Sea trap—Egyptian army behind, impassable water ahead, no human escape—illustrates the human condition as hopeless and enslaved in Satan's slave market. God's command to stand still pictures the human individual brought to the end of human ability and facing the need for divine deliverance.

Les explains that he likes to go back to Israel in slavery in Egypt: after the death angel passed over because they were under the blood, God brought them out and up against the shores of the Red Sea with seemingly no hope. With the Egyptian army behind them and impossibilities to the right and left, God told them to stand still. Les teaches that this is exactly where the human individual finds themselves: without hope and in the slave market of Satan. He also refers to the historical American slave trade, calling it awful, despicable, and totally inhuman, to reinforce the picture of slavery.
