Les Feldick Bible Study

How does Les describe the Judean wilderness?

The Judean wilderness is a barren, uninhabitable, God-forsaken place, far different from beautiful Oklahoma and representing Middle Eastern desert country. The live scapegoat, symbolically bearing Israel's sins, was taken alive into that unknown, untracked wilderness and let go there. It is wilderness.

Les explains that from beautiful Oklahoma, we cannot comprehend the barren wilderness of Judea, or even some of the Middle Eastern desert country. He describes it as wilderness—uninhabitable and God-forsaken, if he may use that term. The live goat, over which the sins of Israel would be symbolically placed, was taken alive clear out into the unknown, untracked wilderness and let go. This scapegoat had been presented alive before the Lord to make an atonement, or covering, and then sent into the wilderness.
