To whom is the preaching of the cross foolishness?

According to Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:18, the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish. These are those who reject the Gospel message that Christ died, was buried, and rose again. To those who are saved, by contrast, that same preaching is the power of God.

Les explains that Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:18 that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish. Les defines the preaching of the cross as the message that Christ died, was buried, and rose again. He notes that this is exactly what the world says, questioning how someone 2,000 years ago could have anything to do with them today. But to those who are saved, the preaching of the cross is the power of God. Les illustrates that it took greater power to save a sinner than to create the universe, and that salvation cannot be earned or merited but is released by believing the Gospel. He recalls a lady in San Antonio saying, 'unless you make it too simple.'

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
