Who is the preaching of the cross foolishness to?

The preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish—those who reject, ridicule, and scorn it. In contrast, to those who are saved and have believed, that same preaching becomes the power of God. Scripture distinguishes the perishing from the called, both Jews and Greeks.

Les explains that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing—people who simply reject it, ridicule it, and scorn it, asking what something that took place 2,000 years ago has to do with them today. But unto us who are saved, who have believed it, that preaching becomes the power of God, the word to underline. Just as God opened the Red Sea by His power, He also exercises His power in resurrecting Christ from the dead and bringing us out of our deadness in sin and slavery to it. In verse 24, unto them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
