For whom is the preaching of the cross foolishness?

The preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish—those who are perishing and cannot comprehend that what someone did 2,000 years ago has any effect on us today. To those who are saved, however, that same preaching becomes the power of God.

Les explains from 1 Corinthians 1:18 that the message of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection is foolishness to those who are perishing. He notes that people all around us cannot comprehend how something done 2,000 years ago could have any effect on us today. But for those who are saved, the preaching of the cross becomes the power of God, and that is what he wants his listeners to understand.

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
