Why can we trust God even when people change?

We can trust God because He is immutable—He never changes. Unlike people, who may change their attitudes and become untrustworthy over time, God remains always the same. What He declared in the Old Testament still applies today. He is sovereign and omniscient, so His character and standards never shift.

Les explains that God's immutability means His standards and attitude toward sin do not change with time. What He declared anathema in the Old Testament remains the same in His sight today and will be in the future if He tarries. In contrast, human beings are not immutable; someone you once trusted explicitly may later prove untrustworthy because their attitudes have changed. God, however, never changes. Les also lists God's attributes: He is sovereign, immutable, and omniscient. Being omniscient, He has all knowledge and knows everything without needing to look it up, unlike human professionals who must know where to look things up. This unchanging, all-knowing nature is why we can trust Him.
