Why can we trust Christ for salvation even though we haven't seen the results yet?
We can trust Christ for salvation because He is faithful. Just as a chair must be faithful to hold someone, Christ has claimed to have done everything necessary, and faith rests on His faithfulness, not on seen results. The blood of Christ is faithful, and He is faithful to keep us.
Les explains this by comparing faith in Christ to sitting in a chair. When people came in, they did not inspect or analyze the chair to see if it would hold them; they simply put their faith in it. For that faith to be valid, the chair had to be faithful. If the chair were not faithful, they would go to the floor. In the same way, Christ has claimed to have done everything necessary, and Les put his faith in that. Someday in the eternal abode, God will not say it was not what it seemed. He will say the blood of Christ is faithful; He is faithful, and that is why we can trust Him. Paul is driving at salvation through the faithfulness of the One who is faithful to keep us, because He loved me and gave Himself for me. It is not how much we love Him, but how much He has loved us.
