How is the human race today like Adam and Eve when it comes to God?
The human race today mirrors Adam and Eve by trying to cover itself spiritually while avoiding God; although people attempt their own coverings, when confronted with the Holy Creator, they run and hide rather than restore broken fellowship. Sin has broken fellowship, and no physical remedy can restore it.
Les teaches that Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and hid themselves among the trees. Although they had covered themselves with fig leaves, when the chips were down they realized those leaves would not cut it; they were in no shape to meet God, so they ran and hid. Les explains that the human race has not changed one iota. People may think they have covered their bases and sown their fig leaves, but when confronted with the Holy Creator God, they run and hide. The spiritual area remains unresolved: sin has broken fellowship with the Creator, and physical efforts cannot restore it.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
