What happened to the human race after Adam and Eve ate?

After Adam and Eve ate, the human race was totally plunged under the curse. God made a covenant with Adam promising the curse's ramifications, with weeds and thistles, yet at its center was the promise of a Redeemer through the woman's seed.

Les explains that after Adam and Eve had just eaten in Genesis chapter 3, they totally plunged the human race under the curse. God then made a covenant with Adam, and it was not a pretty covenant, because in it He promised all the ramifications of the curse and how everything would come under the curse. As the chapter goes on, this includes the weeds, the thistles, and all things associated with it. Yet in the very center of that covenant was the promise of a Redeemer. In verse 15 God says He will put enmity between Satan and the woman, and between Satan's seed and her seed. That seed of the woman is Christ, so there would be a running battle between Satan and Christ. The seed of the woman would bruise Satan's head, which He did at the cross, while Satan would bruise His heel, which Satan accomplished when he caused Christ's suffering at Calvary. From this Genesis 3 promise of a Redeemer through the woman, the Abrahamic covenant is built, showing that through Abraham and his offspring the seed of the woman would come.
