What was the relationship between God and Adam and Eve before sin entered?
Before sin entered, God and Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect, unbroken fellowship. God had complete control, He fellowshiped with them, and they fellowshiped with Him. Their relationship was marked by perfection and direct communion in the garden, with nothing separating them from God.
Les explains that Adam and Eve in the garden were that which God had in complete control. He fellowshiped with them and they fellowshiped with Him, and everything was perfect. The contrast is that when sin entered, sin separated Adam and Eve from God and out of the garden. That separation required God to institute a plan of redemption to buy back and pay the price for what He had lost control of. The same pattern is then applied to Israel: sin brought them down into Egypt and under the influence of Egyptian idolatry, so God would redeem them and bring them back unto Himself.
