How do we bring the Gospel into our experience?
We bring the Gospel into our experience by hearing, comprehending, and verbalizing it, then calling on Him in whom we believe. This requires a proclaimer, not necessarily a preacher, to proclaim the Word and explain the Scriptures, since God revealed the Gospel through Paul and inspired the printed text.
Les teaches that bringing the Gospel into our experience involves the whole complex human being: we must hear it, think about it, comprehend it, and use our mouth to verbalize it. He points to the questions: how shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How shall they believe in Him of whom they have never heard? How shall they hear without a preacher? Les notes the Greek word is better rendered "proclaimer" than "preacher." We do not necessarily have to preach with stomping and yelling; we proclaim the Word of God. He also cites the verse: how shall they proclaim except they be sent? Beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim the gospel of peace. God revealed the Gospel through the Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit to put it in print, but most people need someone to explain the Scriptures. So the Gospel enters our experience through hearing, understanding, speaking, and the proclamation and explanation of others.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
