Why does God leave believers on earth and give them breath each day?
Believers remain on earth and receive breath each day so they may bring praise to God's glory. Their continued existence is not according to works but according to His purpose and grace, and the ultimate purpose of everything is that they should be to the praise of His glory.
Les teaches that believers were called not according to their works but according to God's purposes, which are wrapped up in His grace. He explains that they were predestined according to His purpose, under the control of God's power, and that everything works according to the counsel of His own will. Ephesians says all of this is for one purpose: that believers should be to the praise of His glory. Thus the reason they are left here, and the reason God gives them breath day after day, is to bring praise to His glory. Les also notes Hebrews' reference to the sacrifice of praise, the work of my lips, as what God is looking for, since that is the whole purpose of everything.
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
