Les Feldick Bible Study

Does God give life and breath to nonbelievers as well as believers?

Yes. Scripture declares that God gives to all people, not just believers, life and breath and all things. He made the world and everything in it, is Lord of heaven and earth, and made all nations from one blood to dwell on the face of the earth.

Les explains from Acts 17 that Paul told the pagan Greeks that God "giveth to all, not just believers, but he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things." This God made the world and all things therein, is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands, and is not worshipped with men's hands as though He needed anything. He made of one blood, out of Adam, all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, determining their appointed times and the bounds of their habitation, so they should seek the Lord and feel after Him, though He is not far from any one of us. Les notes that even these pagan Greeks, with no exposure to Judaism and no written Scripture, should have had a knowledge of the Creator God behind it all. He also suggests the Word of God was once written in the stars, that Adam and the pre-flood people could comprehend it, that Satan adulterated it, but that the pre-flood patriarchs had a good understanding of the Word of God by studying the stars.

Acts 17:25

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
