How did God create man in Genesis 2:7?
The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. This verse summarizes the same creation described in chapter 1, showing man was made from the natural elements of the earth.
Les explains that Genesis 2:7 is not describing a different creation from chapter 1, but is simply a summarization of what took place there. The verse says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.” Les notes that after man was created out of the natural elements—and that is all our flesh really is—this verse puts the frosting on the cake.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
