How did God create Eve from Adam?
God created Adam with Eve within him, and later took that part of Eve out of Adam and created the woman. She was not yet called Eve until after the fall. Now Adam had his complement, was complete, and no longer alone.
Les teaches that God created Adam with Eve within him, and then sometime later He took that part of Eve out of Adam and created the woman, so Adam now had his complement, was complete, and no longer alone ([s386]-[s391]). He notes she was not called Eve until after the fall; before that she was referred to simply as the woman ([s380]-[s384]). This creation order is what Paul rests on: the whole order of the sexes is not a modern phenomenon but originated at creation ([s392]-[s396]). God created the man to be the head of the woman because she was created next, and that was God's ordained way of setting up the home and family ([s397]-[s400]). Les emphasizes this does not make the man a slave master or the wife a gopher; she is a helpmate and complement ([s409]-[s413]). He also cites I Corinthians 11:12, that the woman is of the man, even so the man also by the woman ([s415]-[s419]).
