What did Jesus say the eleven apostles would do when He sits on the throne of His glory?

Jesus said that when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, the eleven apostles would also sit upon twelve thrones, ruling the twelve tribes of Israel. This earthly kingdom promise required twelve thrones, so Matthias was chosen to fill Judas's vacant place.

Les explains that this is not the earlier purpose of going to the cross; here He is now on the throne of His glory as King of kings and Lord of lords. The context places this throne on the earth, in Jerusalem, where all nations flow into it, part of the glorious earthly Kingdom. When the Son of Man sits there, He tells the eleven they also will sit on twelve thrones, ruling the twelve tribes of Israel. Les shows why Peter was concerned that Judas's vacant spot left only eleven; twelve thrones required twelve men, so Matthias was chosen to fill Judas's place. All of this demonstrates God's promise of the earthly kingdom to Israel.
