What is different about Jesus now that He is on the throne of His glory?
Now on the throne of His glory, Jesus is no longer the God-man going to the cross; He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. This is a different role: He will sit as Son of Man on an earthly throne in Jerusalem, ruling the glorious earthly Kingdom, with the twelve on twelve thrones over Israel.
Les explains that when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, it is a whole different ball game. Jesus is not then the God-man going to the cross, but the coming King of kings and Lord of lords. Les ties this throne to what was shown in Zechariah and Isaiah: it will be on the earth, in Jerusalem, and all the nations will flow into it. It is part and parcel of the earthly part of the glorious Kingdom on earth. In that setting, the twelve will sit on twelve thrones, ruling the twelve tribes of Israel, which is why Peter was concerned that Judas's empty place be filled and Matthias was chosen.
