What were the every-way advantages the Jews had over Gentiles?
Israel possessed every-way advantages: the Word of God and covenant position, the temple, priesthood, sacrifices, and prescribed approach to Jehovah, plus the geographical land God deeded to Abraham, and miracles such as the Red Sea, manna, and stone tables. Gentiles did not share this table of privilege while God dealt with Israel.
Les explains that Romans 3:1-2 asks what advantage the Jew had, and Paul answers “much, every way.” The advantages included the temple, the priesthood, the sacrifices, the prescribed approach to Jehovah, and the geographical area of land God had deeded to Abraham 2,000 years before. Israel also had miracles such as the Red Sea, the manna, and the tables of stone. They had the Word of God and their covenant position, which meant they were feasting at the Lord’s table, while Gentiles were not in that place of privilege when God was dealing with Israel.
