Les Feldick Bible Study

Does a Jew have an advantage over a Gentile when it comes to salvation?

No. A Jew today is under no different situation than a Gentile so far as God is concerned. Salvation is offered on the same level playing field. A Jew does not have an advantage over the Gentile, nor is he disadvantaged. Both are alike, all under sin, all need salvation, and there is no difference.

Les explains that Romans chapter 10 deals with the Jew in this present age, and its teaching has application for us as well. He notes chapter 10 is often used as salvation verses because salvation is no different for us than for the Jew. Salvation is now offered on that same level playing field. A Jew is neither advantaged nor disadvantaged; both Jew and Gentile are alike, all under sin, all need salvation, and there is no difference. Les also says Paul emphasizes this in rebuttal to the widespread idea in Christendom that God is all through with the Jew because they were the Christ killers, rejected their Messiah, were sent into dispersion, and their temple was destroyed. He mentions Martin Luther detested the Jews religiously, feeling they had killed the Messiah, but says that is not according to Scripture; Luther may have had other good concepts but was out in left field on that point. Paul writes to Gentiles in chapter 10, verse 1.
