What happens to the Gentile system at the Second Coming of Christ?

At the Second Coming, the Gentile system prepares for its demise. Christ destroys first the empire contemporary with that day, the revived Roman Empire, which contains remains of previous empires. The smashing begins at the feet of the image, as the roller comes and destroys it.

Les explains that the whole Gentile system finally prepares for its demise at the Second Coming of Christ. The image with iron and clay, starting with the feet, shows how this destruction works: since the image is standing and a roller will come and smash it, the smashing starts at the feet, not the head. This is the Coming of Christ, and He will destroy first the empire contemporary with that day—the revived Roman Empire—which contains the remains of the previous empires. Les also notes that banking, business, and usury began with Babylon, and the Jews settled quickly there; the Medes and Persians left attributes still with us, though less evident than Babylonian or Greek; Rome integrated much Greek culture because it was profitable. Western Europe is rising, buying American companies, gaining clout, and will become the empire of the world.
