What is the problem with Christendom today?

Christendom lacks that kind of wisdom. Many may be saved, yet they are floundering in ignorance of the Scriptures, rather than appropriating God's grace by faith and abounding in wisdom and prudence. They do not live in the abundant life God freely gives believers, because they fail to believe and appropriate His Word.

Les explains that the problem with Christendom is not necessarily salvation, since they may be saved, but a lack of that kind of wisdom. They are floundering in ignorance of the Scriptures. This wisdom and prudence are tied to appropriating God's grace, and appropriation is by faith, not by feeling or sense. God has freely given believers an abounding, abundant life; they do not have to grovel, climb steps to St. Peter, or cross the ocean. Faith pleases God, while unbelief is what He holds in the strongest light against mankind, and the opposite of unbelief is faith.
