Why are people in Christendom today still divided instead of being one?

People in Christendom remain divided because they cling to various traditions and ideas inherited from the past rather than being steeped in the Word of God. They have not changed; they come with the traditions of the fathers. True unity would come if they would get into the Book.

Les explains that Christendom is divided because believers come with the various ideas of the tradition in which they have lived for many years, rather than being steeped in the Word. He notes that if people could come saying, 'Unless I'm steeped in the Word, I wouldn't have any problem,' they would be unified, but they don't; people haven't changed a bit. He urges listeners not to go by what he or the next man says, but to let his teaching whet their appetite to get into the Book, because that is where it is at. He parallels this with Paul, who was steeped in the tradition of the fathers until it pleased God to separate him from his mother's womb, call him by His grace, and reveal His Son in him.
