Where does God want us to be in relation to trusting His work?
God wants us at the place where there is nothing we can do but simply and completely trust the finished work of Christ. This is not of works or human merit; it is a gift, and Christ's finished work is what makes our escape possible.
Les teaches that God wants us to come to the place where there is nothing we can do but simply and completely trust the finished work of Christ. The context emphasizes that a gift is extended for no reason, and there is nothing anyone can do to merit it. Verse 9 and 10 says, "not of works." Israel could have tried, but it would not have done them any good. They were to stand still. Les warns not to let this slip away from memory, because the finished work of Christ is what makes our escape possible.
