What should be uppermost in a believer's thinking while living in this sinful world?
While living and working in this old sin-cursed world, a believer's uppermost thought should be their position in the heavenlies. Everything that makes up their whole being is to be centered on that heavenly position, not on earthly circumstances. This heavenly position should dominate their thinking.
Les explains that everything the believer constantly thinks about, everything that makes up their whole being, even while they live and work and move in this old sin-cursed world, is their position in the heavenlies. That, he says, should be uppermost in their thinking. He then goes back to verse 2, addressing believers in the area of Ephesus, and notes that the letter probably circulated to other cities such as Colossae, Troas, and possibly Antioch and Derbe. He also emphasizes how providentially these letters were preserved and later put into what we call the Scripture.
