Is the Holy Spirit in us greater than Satan?
Yes, the Holy Spirit within the believer is greater than Satan. The One who is within you is greater than the powers of Satan, and this provides comfort. Although Satan works through the old Adamic nature, the indwelling Spirit strengthens the believer to keep that nature in suppression.
Les explains that Satan is not left out of the picture entirely; he works through the old Adamic nature, which is his playground. He wants to get our old nature to control and exercise its desires. However, the believer has the Holy Spirit indwelling, and He that is within you is greater than the powers of Satan. So we have that comfort. Les also emphasizes that this part of us—the new nature prompted by the Holy Spirit—must be strengthened and become uppermost in all our thoughts, acts, and deeds, and we must constantly keep the old Adamic nature in suppression.
