How was the redemption price in Egypt paid, and was it literal?

The redemption price in Egypt was paid through the blood of the Passover Lamb and the power that opened the Red Sea, bringing Israel out of Egyptian bondage back to God. It was more symbolic than actual, though God truly redeemed them.

Les explains that in Egypt the redemption price was more symbolic than actual. It was the blood of the Lamb that kept them safe on the night of the Passover, and then the power of opening the Red Sea that brought the nation out to God's help. God redeemed them, paid the price, and brought them back to Himself. Les contrasts this with the whole world: Christ paid the price of redemption with His own blood at the cross of Calvary, because without the shedding of blood there is no remission.
