What was the purchase price paid for redemption?
The redemption was purchased by the blood of Christ Jesus. Scripture declares that without the shedding of blood there is no remission or forgiveness of sin, making His blood the mandated purchase price paid for the salvation of everyone who believes the gospel.
Les explains that redemption is the purchase price that has been paid for the salvation of everyone if they will simply believe the gospel. That redemption is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood. Les notes that Hebrews says plainly that without the shedding of blood there is no remission or forgiveness of sin, making blood the mandated purchase price of God. He also mentions that the word propitiation will be explained more in detail when they get to the tabernacle in the book of Exodus, because that is where the word comes into full bloom.
