Have Christians been freed from all legal systems?

Yes. Believers have been set free from every legal system—from any idea of you can't do this, you can't do that. This is not license. Through the Holy Spirit, those under grace can live and please God without rules and regulations telling them what they can or cannot do.

Les teaches that this freedom in grace is not license. He explains that so far as being confined to any legal system—any idea of you can't do this, you can't do that—believers have been set free from all of it. Now, through the power of the Holy Spirit, which the law had nothing of, those under grace can live and be pleasing in God's eyes without rules and regulations telling them what they can or cannot do. Les also points to Paul's illustration in chapter 4: an heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant or slave, though he is lord of all. This comes from the Roman and Greek culture, where wealthy Romans and Greeks hired tutors to prepare a legal son. Until the child finished his time of tutoring, he had no more authority in the family than a slave.
