How can we come into God's presence as full sons?
By virtue of the work of the Cross, God can place believers as full, completely tutored sons. Having received the Spirit of Adoption, we cry Abba Father and come right in alongside Him, already joint heirs with Christ in an exalted position in the heavenlies.
Les explains that believers are not under the spirit of bondage and fear. Instead, we have received the Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry Abba Father. He compares this to a Greek or Roman tutor who prepared a child to become an adult son, ready to step in and be co-equal with the father, not coming in like a little puppy dog afraid, but prepared to work alongside him. By virtue of the work of the Cross, God can place us as a full, completely tutored son of God, and we can come right in alongside Him. That is our position. Though we are on earth under the curse and up against the same things as the world, in faith we can see that we are already in an exalted position in the heavenlies and already joint heirs with Christ. Les also notes that Ephesians is a book of position.
