What does God the Father say and do when a child of God is saved?
When a child of God is saved, God the Father says, "Oh I've been waiting for you, I've been waiting for this day." He places the believer positionally in a place of full responsibility, right up there with God the Son, as an heir and joint heir with Christ.
Les explains that in the illustration, the father had been waiting for the day his son would say, "Father, I'm finally ready, and I'm going to run the business with you." Likewise, every time a child of God is saved, God the Father says, "Oh I've been waiting for you, I've been waiting for this day." He places the believer positionally in a place of full responsibility, right up there with God the Son. Les notes that although believers begin as babes feeding on the milk of the Word, positionally they are elevated with the Son. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. What is His is ours, and what is ours should be His. As joint heirs, if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified with Him.
