What does God do when He saves someone?
At the moment of belief, God performs an all-inclusive work: He forgives, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies the believer, baptizes them into the body, and seals and fills them with the Holy Spirit. These acts are accomplished instantly by God’s act, not by feeling, and are known by faith through Scripture.
Les explains that salvation is God’s all-inclusive work on our behalf. At the instant we believe, God forgives us, justifies us, sanctifies us, glorifies us, baptizes us into the body, seals us with the Holy Spirit, and fills us with the Holy Spirit. This is accomplished instantly by an act of God. Yet we will not necessarily feel these things; we will not feel glorified, see a halo, sprout wings, or see the sky green instead of blue. Assurance comes because the book says so, and faith takes God at His word.
