How was Jesus revealed before and after His incarnation?
Before His incarnation, Jesus was revealed in the Old Testament in various ways as the pre-eternal, self-existent I Am whom Abraham saw and rejoiced to see. After His incarnation, He was born of Mary in the flesh, presented Himself to Israel, went to the cross, rose from the dead, and appeared to followers for forty days in a resurrected body.
Les explains that Jesus claimed, “Before Abraham was, I am,” identifying Himself as the pre-eternal, self-existent I Am who would be revealed more and more. Before His incarnation, He was revealed throughout the Old Testament in various and sundry ways, and Abraham saw His day and rejoiced. The Jews were unbelieving, astonished that He claimed to know Abraham, who lived about 2,000 B.C. After His incarnation, He was born of Mary, presented Himself to Israel, went to the cross, rose from the dead, and appeared to His followers for forty days. That resurrected Christ is different from the one before the cross, yet the same one, now in a resurrected body.
