Why is America turning its back on the Word of God?
America is turning its back on the Word of God because of unbelief. The same unbelief that kept Israel from entering the land is at work when a beloved nation rejects this Word. Unbelief is the root cause, described as a flood-like turning away.
Les explains that unbelief is the one reason people and nations turn from God's Word. He points to Israel's failure to enter Canaan: God had already promised to drive out the Canaanites and give them the land, but they did not go in because of unbelief. Their request to send spies came from unbelief, even though God condescended to it. Les then applies the same principle to America, asking why even our own beloved nation is almost like a flood turning its back on this Word, and answers, "Unbelief. Unbelief." He also says everyone who ends up in the lake of fire will be there for unbelief, though the determination of punishment will be according to works.
