What did God promise Israel at Mount Sinai in Exodus 19 about being a kingdom of priests?
At Mount Sinai, God promised Israel that if they were obedient, He would make them a Kingdom of Priests. Every Jew could have been a go-between between the Gentile world and God, but Israel later rejected the Messiah and lost that opportunity.
Les explains that Exodus 19 records Israel gathered around Sinai, where God told them that if they would be obedient, He would make of them a Kingdom of Priests. Les makes a big deal of this, noting that every Jew could have been a go-between between the Gentile world and their God—what a prospect! But Israel blew it and dropped the ball when she rejected the Messiah, thereby rejecting that glorious opportunity of being a Kingdom of Priests to the Gentile world. Yet this did not stop God. Les teaches that Paul can now write that the Gentiles have received the blessing of Abraham, not through Israel, but directly through the Lord Jesus Christ immediately. God went straight to the pagan world with the message of salvation without Israel as a go-between, so we do not have to wait for Israel to get her act together or for a Jew to come to our community and give us the knowledge of their God.
