Les Feldick Bible Study

What happens to someone who says they are doing the best they can and keeping the Law?

Anyone who claims they are doing the best they can and keeping the Law places themselves under the curse. Scripture shows Israel agreed to do all the Lord had spoken, but people cannot keep the Law. Human effort cannot satisfy the Law's demands; such a claim invites the curse rather than righteousness.

Les explains that after Israel was led out of Egypt and gathered around Mount Sinai, God was preparing to bring the nation under the system of Law with Moses and Aaron. Israel responded in Exodus 19 by saying, "All that the LORD hath spoken we will do." Les suggests the Lord must have smiled and thought that is what they think, because people cannot keep the Law. Therefore, anytime someone says, "I'm doing the best I can, I'm keeping the Law," they are putting themselves under the curse.
