What must a person do to be saved according to this book?
A person is saved by simply believing that Christ has done it all—that when He finished the work of the cross and rose victorious over the grave and death, there is nothing more anyone can do. Salvation is not earned by doing this or that; it rests on faith in Christ's completed work.
Les explains that this book does not teach that a person must do this and do this and do this and then hope to be saved. Instead, it teaches a person to simply believe that Christ has done it all. When Christ finished the work of the cross and rose victorious over the grave and over death, there is nothing more we can do. In the context, Paul turned to the Gentiles after Israel put the word from them in unbelief, and when the Gentiles heard, they were glad, glorified the word of the Lord, and as many as were ordained to eternal life. That is the salvation message: believe in Christ's finished work, not human effort.
