Why is our coming to God equal to Abraham's coming to God?
The equality rests on the same entry principle: faith plus nothing. Abraham became God’s friend and received righteousness by faith alone, and members of the Body of Christ are called out by faith alone. Both therefore come the same way, with no addition to faith.
Les explains that there is an equality between Abraham’s coming to God and ours. Abraham became the friend of God and the recipient of all of God’s righteousness because of his faith, plus nothing. In the same way, members of the Body of Christ are called out by faith, plus nothing. Using an algebra illustration, he says this equals this, and the reason is that we all came in the same way. He then contrasts the present truth with the earlier period, asking how people from Adam, Abel, Seth, Noah, and up to Abraham entered a right relationship with God; not by faith plus nothing, but by faith plus sacrifice, for they could not approach God without it. The point is the same way of faith, with no addition for Abraham and the Body of Christ.
