Why is believing God considered faith?
Believing God is considered faith because it means taking Him at His Word rather than merely acknowledging that He exists. Multitudes may believe in God, but believing God actively trusts His Word and exercises faith, which is what He is looking for.
Les explains that there is a difference between believing in God and believing God. To believe in God is what multitudes around the world do; if it is not the true God, they are believing in some God. But to believe God is faith. When we believe God, we are taking Him at His Word and exercising faith, and that is what He is looking for. Paul says in Galatians that we are to believe God as Abraham did, which sends us back to Romans chapter 4 and then to Genesis. Les also teaches that the Bible is a progressive revelation: what was built in the Old Testament has not been thrown aside, but built upon.
