What should Christians constantly remember about their love for Jesus versus His love for them?

Christians should constantly remember that it is not how much they love Jesus, but how much He loved them. The account of Lazarus illustrates this: Mary and Martha’s love is not the emphasis; His love is, and the Jews said, “Look how He loved them.” He loved us, saved us, and kept us.

Les teaches that in John chapter 11, the account of Lazarus, the emphasis all through the chapter is not how much Mary and Martha loved Jesus, but how much He loved them. When Jesus wept, the Jews in the area said, “Look how He loved them,” not how much they loved Him. Les stresses that this is something believers have to constantly remember: it is not how much we love Him, but how much He loved us, and has saved us, and has kept us. This fits with Paul not frustrating the grace of God, because God’s attitude is one of total love, mercy, and grace, not waiting to zap people.
